Frank was born in St. Ann, Jamaica, West Indies. In his early years, he was a small grocery store owner in a town known as Gravel Hill. He made a large impact in his community by providing help to those in need. He was more concerned about feeding people than making a profit.
Frank’s parents, Melvyn and Lunette Royes-Kidd preceded him in death along with nine of his siblings.
Frank William Kidd (aka Papa Kidd) was born on April 7,1925. After several months of declining health, he passed away on April 9, 2021, at the age of 96. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
In 1969, Frank migrated to the United States, he worked as a salesman for National Shirt Shops and later worked for Saks 5th Avenue until his retirement. He took pride in offering the best solutions for his clients. He was often complimented on his dedication, strong performance and exceptional work ethics.
Frank was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend and the love of his life, Renel Atkinson in 1948. Frank raised his 10 children with the love of God, patience, discipline and humility. Frank was also instrumental in raising most of his grandchildren. From the very beginning, he dedicated his children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of the gospels, leading them to baptism in the Name of Jesus. He instilled many life lessons that have positively transformed their adult lives both spiritually and educationally.
His faith in God was unwavering and he worshipped with every fiber of his being. He had the loudest voice, shouting, dancing and praising God! He was a prayer warrior that not only prayed for his family but for the entire world at large. One of his greatest joys was the monthly family prayer meeting where the family gathered to pray, feast on delicious foods, socialize, share successes, challenges and most importantly testimonies of God’s grace and mercies.
One of Frank’s favorite scripture verses was Mark 10:17-19: 17And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. 19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.
