Bryan Washington is a National Book Foundation honoree!
Our own Bryan Washington has been selected as a National Book Foundation 5 Under 35 honouree! Bryan, who we featured previously, is the son of Arlene & Gary Washington and grandson of Edgar Royes, from the line of Adolphus Royes.
The annual 5 Under 35 honorees is a selection of five fiction writers under the age of 35 whose debut work promises to leave a lasting impression on the literary landscape. The honorees each receive a $1,000 prize and will be celebrated at an invitation-only ceremony in New York City on November 18, 2019. 5 Under 35 is sponsored by the Amazon Literary Partnership.
Here is Bryan’s bio from the National Book Foundation: “Bryan Washington has written fiction and nonfiction for The New Yorker, The New York Times, The New York Times Magazine, BBC, BuzzFeed, Vulture, The Paris Review, Tin House, One Story, Bon Appétit, MUNCHIES, American Short Fiction, GQ, The FADER, The Awl, and Catapult. He is the author of Lot and he lives in Houston.”
